EW Advocacy Agenda
Ecumenical Women submitted a joint advocacy statement signed by many of its member organizations to the United Nations, which can be found here: CSW57 Joint Advocacy Statement. We worked to influence the outcome of the Agreed Conclusions based on the recommendations in this statement organized into three priority areas. A document which supports EW’s recommendations with previously agreed upon language can be found here: CSW57 Recommendations.
Ecumenical Women achieved great success in getting supportive language around each of our three priority areas into the Agreed Conclusions, as detailed here: CSW57 Outcomes.
Many Ecumenical Women member organizations also submitted individual advocacy statements that contributed to the positive outcomes of CSW57:
- World Council of Churches CSW57 Oral Statement Transcript
- United Methodist Women CSW57 Written Statement
- Anglican Consultative Council CSW57 Written Statement
Ecumenical Women also held evening advocacy debriefs on both Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first Friday during CSW57 in the Mezzanine of the Episcopal Church Center at 815 2nd Avenue.

The follow up to Bejing is most imarotpnt .I wonder if each regional Cirlce of leadership and each Unit JP Contact could be asked to begin now to select a representative so that GS has great international representation And, as folks are identified to represent the region or unit, they could be given, rom the IJPC office specific preparation material and help setting up their own goals to make the expeince worthwhile when they bring it back home Dreaming.. that we can participate in changing systems and structures that oppress women.
