Claiming Rights, Claiming Justice: A Guidebook on Women Human Rights Defenders
A Guidebook on Women Human Rights Defenders is aimed to help women human rights defenders name the specific risks, violations and constraints they face in their work. It presents a practical discussion of the useful mechanisms developed by the state and also the civil society to provide redress and remedy, and to protect women human rights defenders. It is intended to be used by human rights and other organisations to further a gender perspective in the monitoring and documentation of human rights. The guidebook was produced by APWLD in close collaboration with individuals and organisations that participated in the international campaign on women human rights defenders since 2005.

Women in Politics Map, 2005

The map provides a “snapshot” of women’s presence in the executive and legislative branches of Government, as of January 2005. It was published by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Division for the Advancement of Women on the occasion of the 49th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, which reviewed progress made in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. The map provides a visual representation on the percentage of women in politics, including women in parliament, ministerial posts, and heads of State or Government throughout the world.
