Ecumenical Women exists as an advocacy group formulated to further women’s rights around the world from a faith-based perspective.  To do this, we believe that strong action must take place at the United Nations, and we encourage our member groups and their delegates to advocate both at the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) as well as at the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).  As Ecumenical Women is largely based near the UN headquarters in New York City, much of our focus has been on CSW, held annually here in New York.  Beginning in 2008, however, CEDAW will begin to take a larger role in New York, and we hope to increase our presence at the Conventino in upcoming years.  For more information on Ecumenical Women’s involvement in CSW this year, click here

Ecumenical Women is also closely following the Gender Architecture Equality Reform (GEAR) Campaign within the United Nations system.  For more information about Gender Equality Architecture, click here.
